What is it?
Autostop House is an open, safe, friendly, and free space for hitchhikers and other travelers from all over the world. You can stay overnight, take a shower, do your laundry, and—most importantly—meet amazing people! Our plan is to open a hitchhiker house every year in a different location from the beginning of July until the end of August. In 2023, it was Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina; in 2024, Ohrid in North Macedonia; and in 2025, the choice fell on picturesque Ljubljana in Slovenia. This year, we plan to return to the very heart of the Balkans, but the exact location will be announced soon.
Who pays for it?
The people involved run this entirely on a non-profit basis. We are partly supported by voluntary donations from our guests, but most of the costs are covered out of our own pockets. Would you like to support us, collaborate, or sponsor us? Let us know!
Who are we?
Autostop House is created by people whose shared passion is travel, who want to help others while also broadening their own horizons. We aim to promote low-cost travel, openness to others, and curiosity about the world. We are part of the Polish Hitchhikers Association and are involved in many other interesting initiatives.
